Who is Tieghan?

Performance Coach & Player Development Specialist

Coach Tieghan Morio brings a decorated playing career and a fundamentals-first coaching philosophy to her work with athletes of all ages. A former Division I pitcher at both Ball State University and Eastern Illinois University, she earned numerous accolades during her collegiate career, including MAC All-Freshman Team honors, Second Team All-MAC, and Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete recognition. She also played a key role in leading EIU to its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance—an achievement that stands as a highlight of her playing days.

With over three years of coaching experience, including her most recent role as a Graduate Assistant for the Division I Saint Louis University softball program in the '23-'24 season. Coach Morio is currently in Law School and teaching lessons where she specializes in pitching development. She focuses on building strong mechanical foundations before advancing to more complex layers of training. Her approach is supportive yet challenging—designed to push players beyond their comfort zones while building confidence and trust in their abilities.

“I believe the game gives back what you put into it. Sometimes it might feel unfair, but if you play with effort, integrity, intensity, and love, the game will reward you in some shape or form.”

Coach Morio credits her inspiration to coach to the many mentors who shaped her own athletic journey—from youth softball to the college ranks. She now aims to pass that same positive impact forward. Athletes and families often describe her as a coach who pulls the best out of her players, helping them develop not only their physical skills but also their belief in themselves.
